Having worked with acclaimed mosaicists in both the UK and USA since 1999, Jacqueline Mitchell launched Hot Rocks Mosaics in South Africa in 2003. Here she works full-time, principally with Bob Adolfe Filimon, creating mosaics for private and public spaces. Jacqueline has trained three South Africans who are now empowered to specialize in this craft and indeed, one of them has gone on to set up her own rapidly growing mosaic studio.
From hand-painted designs Hot Rocks Mosaics produces decorative, artistic, and ornamental mosaics in 2D and 3D for interiors and exteriors, using vitreous glass, smalti, marble, ceramic and beach stones.
These include bathrooms, kitchens, swimming pools, and fountains, as well as signs, mirrors, tables, vases, lamps and unique 3D sculptures for homes, hotels, restaurants and private companies.
